summary
The 1964 earthquake near Anchorage caused devastation as far away as Valdez AK. The result for Valdez was to pick up the remaining structures and move entire city to a new location. The exhibit takes a point of time, right after the tidal wave, and puts the visitor where a family would meet in good times or crisis, the kitchen. The community banded together with assistance from state and federal agencies to rise to become a thriving tourist destination for fishing, skiing, and wildlife viewing.
